Marion County Public Health Department believes:
Public Health is an integral component of the health care system, using the core functions and essential services of Public Health and the art and science of nursing, education, and other public health related disciplines to promote, preserve, and restore the health of individuals and the community.
The public health professional is an individual, family and community advocate, community resource, and caregiver, who uses scientific based information to educate, empower, and encourage independence for individuals and families.
The public health professional maintains, promotes, and restores health through caring, coordinating, educating, and collaborating interdependently with community partners.
